This is my large wheel bowl. I glazed this with a dark green color and turquoise. When I was making this bowl, I focused on making it more of a "true bowl" shape, more wide than it is tall. One art element that I used is shape. I think it is the perfect shape because it is a lot wider than it is tall and is big. One design element that I used while making this project is unity. I feel as though the turquoise blue and the green really go together and to me, kind of resemble the ocean or the sky.
This is my hand project. I didn't want to go on the wheel one day so I decided to start a hand project. I used a stencil to put the top design in and then carved it out. On the sides, I glazed it with white and then drips of black of turquoise. One art element I used is form. It is the shape/form of a box. One design element that I used while creating this project is pattern. The drips form a pattern all around the sides of the box.
***Someone put their project in the glaze kiln before it went through the bisque kiln so it exploded onto my project.***
This is my set of 3. I threw 3 bowls on the wheel that fit within each other. The smallest bowl was put into the gas kiln so that is why it is a darker color. It was glazed the exact same way as the other two bowls. Also, the blue chunks at the bottom of the smallest bowl are part of someone project that exploded in mine. After the other 2 bowls came out of the bisque kiln, I stained cactus's on the inside of the bowls. I then dipped the bowls in a clear glaze. One art element that I used while making this project was shape. When I made these bowls, I focused on making them more of a bowl shape, more wide than tall. Also, all of the bowls are the perfect shape to where they all fit within each other. One design element that I used while creating these bowls is contrast. When I stained the cactus's, I put pinkish/red flowers on the cactus's that really contrast with the light green color of the body of the cactus. This is my large wheel bowl. I glazed this bowl the same way that I glazed my two other bowls. I covered it in white glaze and then dripped mystery blue and black along the top edge. One design element that I used while making this bowl is proportion and scale. This bowl meets the requirements of a "large" bowl but it is not too big. It is a good sized bowl, maybe for cereal or snacks. An art element that this large bowls obtains is color. The colors that are used in this bowl's glaze are simple yet attractive because they are two very different colors with lots of contrast. The colors in this bowl remind me of the sky.
This is my first project of the 2nd semester. I made two bowls on the wheel. When I glazed these two bowls, I covered them both in the white glaze and then I used a dripping bottle to drip mystery blue around the top and then went over the mystery blue and dripped a black glaze around the top edge. One art element that I used while making these two bowls is value because the white and blueish black color really contrast. A design element that I used is rhythm. These two bowls have rhythm because there is a repeated pattern with the drips going down the sides.
